DOMESTIC ABUSE

Our RAISE-AP staff do their utmost for every student in their care.

Domestic abuse education is vital because it protects individuals, strengthens communities, and helps prevent harm before it becomes entrenched. Education helps our young people recognise what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like. By learning about boundaries, consent, respect, and power, individuals are more likely to identify abusive behaviours early and seek help before situations escalate. We also take seriously the importance of challenging harmful norms and attitudes. Domestic abuse education confronts myths such as abuse being “normal”, “private”, or provoked by victims. This is particularly important in addressing gender stereotypes, coercive control, and normalised behaviours that can mask abuse.

When our young people understand the signs of abuse and know where to go for support, they are more likely to seek help for themselves or intervene safely for others. This can lead to earlier support, better outcomes, and, in some cases, lives being saved.

Women’s aid have a wealth of resources, which we utilise in our provision.
