LITERACY

Literacy is the foundation of all learning. Strong reading, writing and communication skills enable students to access the full curriculum, express their ideas clearly and develop confidence in their own voice. 

Literacy underpins progress in every subject, from understanding questions in maths to explaining scientific thinking or engaging in wider discussion. 

It also supports social and emotional development, helping students connect with others, solve problems and make sense of the world around them. By prioritising literacy, RAISE-AP empower students with the essential skills they need for academic success, future employment and active participation in society.

At RAISE-AP we know the importance of literacy, and believe in reading for pleasure as a strong underpinning of our curriculum. We encourage students to read what interests them, and we support this with our weekly, dedicated reading for pleasure time.
